Bhagwan Tungnath Temple is magnificent in its style and architecture, according to the wishes of the priest, the Tungnath temple is believed to be more than 1000 years old. This main temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and other smaller rocks temples in the vicinity are said to be dedicated to Goddess Parvati. In which Chandrashila Peak is also considered

Chandrashila Peak is another 1.5 km from Tungnath Temple, from Tungnath Temple, the path narrows and uphill trek route, as one climbs to the meadows of Chandrashila Peak. Chandrashila Peak is the last peak of the mountain on which the Tungnath temple is also situated. A beautiful small temple is situated on the summit. Chandrashila Peak is situated at an altitude of 3,690 m above sea level, these peaks are at 360 degrees. From there you get spectacular views of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Kedar Dome, Chaukhamba, Kamet, Gangotri ranges, Shivling Peak and Himalayan peaks.

Short Itinerary of Chopta Chandrashila Trek

Day 4 – Chopta to Haridwar via Rishikesh 

Drive from Chopta to Dehradun (202 km) (7/8 Hours) you will reach Rishikesh Dehradun between 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Chopta to Rishikesh usually takes around 7-8 hours by car. The route passes through scenic landscapes and offers several opportunities to stop and enjoy the views. Here are some of the highlights of the return journey:

  1. Ukhimath: Ukhimath is a small town located en route from Chopta to Rishikesh. The town is famous for its ancient temples and is an important pilgrimage center in the region. The town also offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Note: –  Many trekkers commit the same mistake of carrying unnecessary items on a trek which only makes the backpack heavy. It is important to know the right items to carry.
It differs from season to season if you are trekking in summers then carry less layers of warm clothing and if you are trekking in winters carry enough layers to protect yourself against chilly cold.

A strongly built backpack with good support is compulsory for a trek. (Rain cover is important)

Sturdy Trekking Shoes
The shoes should be strong enough with good support. The people ask if sports shoes would be comfortable but it is good to bring the right trekking shoes.

The Clothes You Should Bring On a Trek
Avoid keeping extra clothes because it only makes you backpack heavy.

Trek Pants – The jeans are never suitable for a trek so you need at least 2-3 trek pants for treks carry more for longer treks.

Jacket – Jackets are very important to carry on a trek it protects you against the chilly weather. So carry 2 jackets on a week long trek.

Layers of warm Clothing 
Carry warm woolen layers or fleece. Carry more layers during winter season (at least 2 to 3) and less during summer.

Thermals – The Temperature decreases at night so you might be need thermals for Night.

T- Shirts – Bring those t shirts which dry fast.

Poncho –They are needed if you are trekking on a Rainy day to keep you dry.
